Project description
A customer in Switzerland tasked RATEC with the development of a special shuttering system for the manufacture of the track/roller boxes for a funicular.
The development and elaboration of the shuttering concept had to take into account the requirements for the surface of the elements, such as the broom finish, the track bedding, the installation of the dowels and the various inserts, such as the roller boxes made of prefabricated glass fibre reinforced plastic (GRP). These requirements have a significant impact on the costing of the concrete precast parts. Using a special shuttering solution, the roller boxes could be replaced by normal concrete through integration into the “typing”. This resulted in significant cost savings per concrete element.
